My dear Father,

You have asked me to write a word of introduction to the "Life of the Blessed[1] Theresa Margaret of the Sacred Heart of Jesus." My word is superfluous. The Blessed Theresa Margaret, whose name for years and years has been held in reverence and invoked with confidence by the members of our Order while we were awaiting in eager hope the day of her ultimate triumph on earth, no longer needs heralding since, by the Sovereign Pontiff's supreme authority, she has been raised to the honors of the altar. From that height she looks down upon the world, and, with her angelic voice, calls to the souls of men, inviting them to live the life of virtue and perfection. The will to imitate should be the answer of all souls whom the invitation reaches.

Sheer whiteness of purity, burning ardor of love, intense fervor in prayer, deepest humility, intimate union with Jesus in His Sacred Heart . . . such was the life of Blessed Theresa Margaret.

It is my dearest wish that these pages may reveal so clearly and so effectually the joy and happiness of the spiritual life that many, affected by the reading, shall feel the urge to detach themselves from this world and its spirit, to ascend to the Lord, and to unite themselves to Him in the sweet abandonment of perfect love.

Blessing you from my heart, I remain

Your humble brother,

Raphel
